ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hey everyone! My name is Eric Breiner and I’m the author of Sammi the Seagull: A Day at the Jersey Shore. I was born in Princeton, then spent a few years in Pennsylvania before my parents moved to Indiana where I’ve lived ever since. That hasn’t stopped me or my family from visiting the shore nearly every summer. It is such a special place to us that my wife Kelli and I took our daughter to the shore when she was only 3 months old. We are taking her back this summer where she will be able to better enjoy the beach, boards, and great food!
THE STORY
When Kelli and I were down the shore in July of 2021 with the family, we wanted to get a book for our daughter Lenna who would arrive later that year, as well as our nieces. When shopping at Hoys 5 & 10, a family favorite, we couldn’t find any great books about the Jersey Shore. After stopping at a few other shops, there was nothing we felt captured all that the shore offered in the way of a children’s picture book. After making a joke to my mom that I could write one, it was all downhill from there. I started making notes and coming up with ideas from the balcony of our rental overlooking the beach in Avalon. Now, we are finally here with the completed book!
GIVING BACK LOCALLY
This book takes place up and down the Jersey Shore that we all love so much. Without the beautiful beaches, shops, restaurants, and especially the people, it wouldn’t be the same. Because of that, we want to give back to the community that has made the shore such a special place for so many of us for generations. We are finalizing the selection process of our partner non-profits and can’t wait to share them with you all soon. In the end, the sales from our website will help enable the charitable giving we plan to do.
